Fourier Filtering Start Demo

Description

This project seeks to create a demonstration applet for Fourier domain filtering. We present different mask filters that are applied to remove or keep portions of the power spectrum. We are interested in understanding which visual information is stored in which area of the Fourier transform. The mask size or orientation is adjusted directly by the user on the spectrum with mouse drag, the filtered image is computed once the mask is chosen and validated with the compute IFFT button. We use lowpass, highpass, bandpass, bandstop and wedge masks.

We give an example of a Fourier house image filtered with a wedge mask below:

Toolbar in the image display
pointer_on Get the coordinates and value of a pixel.
info_on Get the maximum, minimum and the mean value of the image.
frame Open a new window containing the image.
zoomin_on Zoom out by a factor 2.
