About me

Michael Sühling was born in Bocholt, Germany, in 1974. He studied Technomathematics at the University of Kaiserslautern and received his diploma in August 2000.

During his studies, he took part in the educational program of the European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry (ECMI). As part of the program, he stayed at the Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg (Sweden), from August 1997 to April 1998. In summer 1998, he did an Internship at Summus Limited, Columbia-SC, USA; he was involved in the development of an objective measure to evaluate the quality of compressed video sequences. From March 1999 to May 2000, he was part-time research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics (ITWM), Kaiserslautern, where he worked on Wavelet-based compression of images and video sequences.

Currently, he is working towards a Ph.D. at the Biomedical Imaging Group (BIG) of Prof. Michael Unser at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, Switzerland.
