AbstractCell tracking is a recurrent image processing problem encountered by biologists for which no general solution exists so far. Under the joint collaboration of Prof. McKinney's microbiology lab and Prof. Unser biomedical imaging group, we worked on developing an ImageJ plugin aiming to automate the cell tracking and segmentation process for mycobacteria in time-lapse microscopy data. We will here highlight the challenges faced in the development of a mycobacteria tracker, describe the methods we used, and present the results we obtained.
