Signal Representations: From Images to Irregular-domain Signals

Abstract
In this talk, I will briefly present parts of my work at University of Illinois on the representations (either Fourier-like or wavelet-like) of different classes of signals ranging from cartoon-like images to signals living on graphs. The three main topics of the talk are: (1) nonlinear approximation of directional wavelets; (2) spherical harmonics for inverse rendering; and (3) graph wavelet transforms and applications.
