AbstractWe propose a shape-constrained tracking framework based on active contours for the study of worm motility. The main ingredient of our approach is the formulation of a shape space, which defines a set of admitted transformations of the worm body. It allows for the decomposition of worm motion into a collection of modes, hence giving insights into the nature of the different locomotion patterns present in a dataset.
