Fast PET reconstruction: the home stretch
Michael McCann
In this talk, I will update the group on my efforts to design a fast algorithm for positron emission tomography (PET) based on resampling the measurements. While this problem originally looked like low-hanging fruit, it has turned out to be a challenge. I will discuss a few of my failed attempts to resample using spline, then present a simple and effective algorithm that, surprisingly, involves no resampling at all. Finally, I will present my progress on finding a satisfactory explanation for why such an algorithm can work at all.
