Estimation of Local Aortic Elastic Properties with MRI
Autumn 2009
Master Semester Project
Project: 00177
Our aim is to use MRI data to estimate the local elastic properties---compliance and pulse wave velocity---of the human aorta. These images will provide us with information about the change of the aortic cross-section as well as the blood flow through aorta. The purpose of the project is to develop image processing tools to delineate the cross-sectional change during blood ejection at different points along the ascending and descending aorta. The data will be analyzed which the aim of correlating the variation of the pressure and the cross section of the aorta with time.
The project is a collaboration with Prof. Nikos Stergiopulos.
