Biography

photo Arash Amini Arash Amini was born in 1982, Arak, Iran and has received B.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering (Communication) and Petroleum Engineering (Reservoir) in 2005, M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees of Electrical Engineering (Communications) in 2007 and 2011, respectively, all from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. From Nov. 2009 to Nov. 2010 he was a visiting PhD student at BIG, EPFL, Switzerland. His research during the PhD was mainly focused on deterministic schemes of designing the measurement matrix in compressed sensing.
From Sept. 2006 to Sept. 2009, he was a system design engineer at Rezvan Co., Tehran, Iran where he was working towards designing and simulating the algorithms for mobile reception of video streaming standards such as DVB-T, DVB-H, T-DMB, ISDB-T and ATSC, with the special focus on the channel estimation, equalization and decoding blocks. He has also ten years (1999-2009) of experience in teaching elementary number theory to math olympiad contestants.
Since April 2011 he is a postdoc researcher working on sparse/compressible stochastic models at BIG, EPFL, Switzerland.
